Electrodeionization
EDI is a process that combines semi-impermeable membrane technology with ion exchange media to provide a high efficiency demineralization process.
The EDI process uses less than 95% of the chemical products used in traditional ion exchange processes to produce very high purity industrial process water. In EDI systems, membranes and electricity are replacing the millions of gallons of acid and corrosive chemicals needed daily in old processes. The EDI is typically used to polish reverse osmosis (RO) permeates and effectively replace conventional mixed bed ion exchange (IX).
